Isolated from the world, composer Jerome obsessively works on a monumental piece about love. To do so, he samples everyday sounds and snippets of speech, recording them incessantly. Since his wife and daughter have left him because of this listening mania, he has been in a creative crisis. Barren of any life, his bunker offers no source of inspiration - certainly not for working on feelings. So when Child Protective Services wants to review visitation rights for his daughter, Jerome has to show social skills. Instead of his household robot GOU 300 F, he now has to find a "real" fiancée, actress Zoe.
As an experiment on feeling in times of its technical reproducibility, "Ab jetzt" unfolds enormous situational comedy. At its center, the constantly reprogrammed and misprogrammed GOU 300 F. Originally built for babysitting, the highly complex android suffers from chronic underemployment. Filling the idle time in the program, the maternal machine copies human behavioral patterns of its environment. So while Jerome records all his life and love noises for the perfect work of art, Zoe really falls in love with him while trying to impersonate his lover, all this is finally reduced to absurdity by a dysfunctional robot.
