Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel truly doesn't have the best reputation. But even if prostitution and drugs still characterize the appearance of the neighborhood in many corners, the station and its immediate surroundings is a part of the Main metropolis characterized by versatility and history, with many fascinating and also beautiful sides. Because in this quarter the pulsating versatility of the Main metropolis can be experienced in a very special way. This is due to the fact that the quarter is currently undergoing a noticeable transformation. In recent years in particular, the defining aspects of the quarter, such as drugs and prostitution, have been pushed more and more to the margins, as rising rents in other parts of the city, such as the Nordend, are making the Bahnhofsviertel more and more attractive for numerous Frankfurt residents. New apartments, pubs and offices are attracting a whole new public to the district, which is naturally also taking on a new look as a result. Only the next few years will show how much this will ultimately differ from the previous appearance. But already now some clear changes are recognizable, which make the station quarter one of the most exciting districts of the Main metropolis precisely because of the resulting contrasts.
What an exciting district the station quarter is, which shows since 2008 also once a year the constantly increasing popularity enjoying station quarter night. In the meantime, up to 40,000 visitors take advantage of this festival, at which institutions, artists, studios or businesses present themselves to the public in a very special way. The great interest does not come from nowhere, as the visitors have the opportunity to get to know many interesting places and people, which otherwise remain rather hidden from the public. The large number of visitors has ensured that the Bahnhofsviertel night 2016 should actually be postponed until the winter due to the necessary security concept alone. The goal: more culture inside and less partying on the street. But this plan was met with an enormous amount of protest, which is why the festival was able to take place in late summer again in 2016. This is also thanks to the fact that for the first time, Tourismus und Congress GmbH Frankfurt was brought on board to help the organizers create a security concept for the Bahnhofsviertel night.
Also in 2019, many stations will open their doors, with - as every year - some new participants hiding among the great offerings. Participating for the first time are the Design Offices Frankfurt, TeamEscape or even TOASTADO.
Other highlights of the twelfth Bahnhofsviertel night include various themed tours of the district, taster classes at the Monika Bauer dance school, an exhibition at cult kiosk YOKYOK, live music by Tommie Harris & Friends at Orange Peel and much more.
