Time for round numbers: Before next year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Barrelhouse Jazzband, another anniversary is first on the agenda. In October 2022, the uninterrupted tradition of Germany's oldest jazz band inviting all fans of the traditional New Orleans and swing sound to the Alte Oper Frankfurt for an annual concert and party will have lasted 40 years. This four decades Barrelhouse Jazzparty celebrates the band on Saturday, October 15, 2022, with the proven combination of seated concert with musical guests in the Great Hall at 20.00 clock and jazz club atmosphere at the 23.00 o'clock following party in the foyers.
For the concert in the Great Hall, the Barrelhouse Jazzband has again invited international top soloists: Texan trombonist Joe Gallardo has played with Stan Kenton and Sammy Davis Jr. among others and was the first trombonist of the NDRBigband in the 1990s. Jesse Jones from the USA combines exquisite saxophone playing and singing with a good portion of entertainment. His compatriot Stanley Breckenridge provides stirring blues and swing with his voice and on the piano. And the British trumpeter Bruce Adams is considered one of the most dazzling swing trumpeters in Europe, several times he was a laureate of the "British Jazz Award".
The party afterwards will be enlivened by the Mama Shakers from Paris, the Oliver von Essen Trio as well as the Barrelhouse Jazzband, which will again see the audience off into the night with its midnight session.
