With ten albums in 20 years, Black Label Society are not only one of the most constant, but also most important bands of modern hard rock and heavy metal. Head, mastermind and only continuing member of the band is Zakk Wylde, for many years the lead guitarist in Ozzy Osbourne's band as well as for some years now frontman of the Black Sabbath cover band Zakk Sabbath, in which he and former Black Sabbath members give a perfect rebirth to arguably the most important metal band of all time. But Zakk Wylde's main focus since the late nineties has been Black Label Society, a band that has continued to change and evolve, not least due to countless line-up changes. Early 2018 will see the release of their tenth studio album, Grimmest Hits.
There are countless indications that Zakk Wylde is one of the most important guitarists working today. In addition to winning countless awards up to and including a Grammy, having his hand imprinted on Hollywood's Rock Walk of Fame, his repeated appearances at major sporting events to play the American national anthem, or his temporary membership in rock giants Guns'n'Roses, he was given yet another very special honor: In the highly acclaimed PC game "Guitar Hero," Zakk Wylde is one of the original playable characters, demanding everything from the advanced player in terms of fast-paced heavy metal runs.
