Festival of Bluegrass & Americana Music
Evolved from the ancient ballad tradition of Celtic culture, it has formed its own musical genre in the encounter with other cultures in the melting pot of the eastern southern United States: This is bluegrass, that authentic American folk music that is firmly rooted in people's everyday lives and is mostly played in family settings. In the 2017/2018 season, these pieces will once again be the focus of the "Festival of Bluegrass & Americana". Because the idea of uniting the many varieties of the genre in a "Jamboree" fell on fertile ground, festival organizer Rainer Zellner has prepared with great pleasure the already ninth edition. The musicians' convoy he has put together will also make a stop in Dreieich.
For the first time in the Jamboree history, a trio from Boston, the three women of "LULA WILES" will open the round. They weave together modern Americana songwriting, traditional acoustic instruments and creative musical ideas to create an intense and soulful new sound.
Calling to the musical dance floor is the second trio of the evening, the "LONESOME ACE STRING BAND" from Toronto. These three men are seasoned warhorses of old-time music and will transform any concert hall into a 1940s-style hillbilly haystack.
Complex, modern, virtuosic and addictive voices: Boston's "LONELY HEARTSTRING BAND" is poised for a major career in the U.S. with their Contemporary Bluegrass.
