He may carry an acoustic guitar and write terribly beautiful universal truths, but Ciaran Lavery is no image of the sensitive singer-songwriter cliché. The Irishman's second album, titled "Let Bad In," combines Americana with hip-hop influences and a gritty voice, and also showcases some deep soul impulses, electronic beats and lush string arrangements. Ciaran doesn't want to be pigeonholed. There's something therapeutic about being in between genres, he says. He also seems to treat many people worldwide with his songs, as the click numbers easily exceed the 30 million mark. But fortunately, Ciaran Lavery doesn't care about the hype. For him, it's all about the moment and doing the only right thing in his songwriting. Namely, getting across what his heart, gut and hips are telling him. And that's what makes Ciaran stand out from the throng of other songwriters big time!
