Born in 1982, Franziska Hölscher began playing the violin at the age of five. She received her training with Ulf Hoelscher and Thomas Brandis in Karlsruhe and Lübeck. In 2013 she completed her studies with Nora Chastain in Berlin.She attracted attention in 1999 when she won 1st prize at the International Radio Competition in Prague at the age of 17. She is now a regular guest at all the major German music festivals and is one of the most sought-after violinists of the young generation. Together with her long-time duo partner Severin von Eckardstein, she took over the artistic direction of the chamber music series "Klangbrücken" at the Konzerthaus Berlin in 2010.
The Latvian pianist Lauma Skride was born in Riga in 1982 and received her first lessons at the age of five. After studying at the "Emīls Dārziņš" Conservatory in Riga, she studied with Volker Banfield at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg.
