Singer/Songwriter Concert at KESSELHAUS
The story has been told many times: Originally, Dan Owen wanted to be a guitar maker, but lost part of his sight in an accident. Since then, instead of building the instrument, he plays it and sings along with it. But it's more his lyrics, the ability to tell stories like few can, that make his songs so special. Schooled in blues (Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf) as well as folk and country (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson), it's not surprising that the 24-year-old was recently invited by Jack White to play at his Third Man record store on the occasion of - just - Willie Nelson's 80th birthday, alongside other illustrious guests such as Norah Jones or Sheryl Crow. Discovered by Mick Fleetwood (that's right, the Fleetwood), Owen is currently working with Cam Blackwood (George Ezrah) and Charlie Hugall (Florence + The Machine) on his debut album, which should be out shortly. The songs he has already released promise great things. Opening the evening will be Cologne-based songwriter Joey Ney.
