Already in May 2015 you could experience the Kaiser Quartett in the Great Hall of the Alte Oper. There the Hamburg strings performed together with multi-talent Chilly Gonzales. After his second "Solo Piano" CD and the orchestrated rap album "The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales", the Canadian from Cologne had realized his interpretation of romantic chamber music on "Chambers" with the Kaiser Quartet. "Normally I write for my ten fingers, now I have these four musicians and in a way I see them as an extension of my piano," he said in an interview with Fast Forward Magazine. "You can ultimately express a lot more with strings than you can with the piano. They convey incredibly well the melancholy, which is an important part of my music. But you can also use them very well rhythmically. 'Chambers' has more rhythm than my solo piano albums because it just translates better with the strings."
Besides Chilly Gonzales, Adam Zolynski, Jansen Folkers (both violin), Ingmar Süberkrüb (viola) and Martin Bentz (cello) have also collaborated with Jarvis Cocker, BOY, Kettcar, Daniel Hope, Bosse and Gregory Porter, among others. For a long time now they have found their own niche away from the traditions. With "Kaiser Quartett" they finally present their debut album on the indie label [PIAS] Recordings Germany and even release singles like "Grossraumdisko". With the means of a classical string quartet they recorded miniatures, which are in the area of tension of electronic idols like Giorgio Moroder or Daft Punk and whose musical input they spin on. On a club tour, they aim to prove that you can present classical music "cool" with 4×4 strings, style and confidence.
