Ernest Lewinter's solo performances feature songs from the London folk-blues scene of the 60s and early 70s around legendary song poets and acoustic guitarists Bert Jansch, John Renbourn and John Martyn. They and some of their contemporary companions from this unusually innovative period are often also regarded as pioneers and role models for the modern singer-songwriter-guitarist scene - and not just in the English-speaking cultural sphere. Bert Jansch was probably the first European "singer-songwriter-guitarist", outside the mainstream music scene, who could fill concert halls as a soloist. He accompanied his self-written songs with acoustic guitar and a stylistically unique guitar style. In the songs of the "London School" a spiritual kinship to the blues or the French chanson is often noticeable, as well as to the roots of Anglo-Celtic folk tradition. "I am very happy to have been able to see Jansch live on many occasions, both in his solo performances and with the bands 'Pentangle` and 'Conundrum` or in various duos, both in Germany and in England. Similarly for John Renbourn or John Martyn and for quite a few other of their companions from the British/Irish and North American scene of that time."(Lewinter) Source and further information: http://www.frankfurtartbar.de/index_april.htm
