It is always a very special highlight when the sun sets against the backdrop of the Frankfurt skyline while the hr-Sinfonieorchester plays an open-air concert at the Weseler Werft. Once again this year, Hessischer Rundfunk and the European Central Bank are presenting this magnificent musical event. The extraordinary atmosphere on the banks of the Main provides the perfect backdrop for an inspiring summer concert evening. More than 20,000 visitors have already been enchanted by the hr-Sinfonieorchester in this picturesque setting in the past. As the enclosed area was often filled to capacity hours before the concert began, many people made do with a seat on the bridge or on the opposite bank of the Main. And even a little away from the actual action, a classical music evening against a big city backdrop still has a very special charm.
An unforgettable summer evening on the banks of the Main awaits visitors with musical highlights under the direction of chief conductor Alain Altinoglu and soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller. The program includes Smetana's "Die Moldau", Wagner's Meistersinger Overture and Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition".
The hr-Bigband will be heating up the atmosphere with SHELÉA from 6 pm.
The open-air concert by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the European Central Bank is not only a musical event, but also a feast for the palate. Various gastronomic offerings round off the experience and invite visitors to enjoy the Europa Open Air in a relaxed atmosphere.
