It is always a very special highlight when the sun sets against the backdrop of the Frankfurt skyline while the hr-Sinfonieorchester plays an open air concert at the Weseler Werft. This year, after three years, the Hessischer Rundfunk and the European Central Bank are finally presenting this great musical event again. The extraordinary atmosphere of the Main embankment provides the perfect backdrop for an inspiring summer concert evening. In the past, more than 20,000 visitors have been enchanted by the hr Symphony Orchestra in this picturesque setting. Since the demarcated area was often filled to capacity hours before the concert began, many were also content with a seat on the bridge or on the opposite bank of the Main. And even somewhat removed from the actual action, such a classical music evening in front of a big city backdrop still has a very special charm.
The hr-Sinfonieorchester opens the new season with an impressive open air concert in cooperation with the European Central Bank. Under the direction of chief conductor Alain Altinoglu, the audience can expect an enchanting evening full of musical brilliance on the banks of the Main River in Frankfurt.
Supported by "Elisabethen Quelle," this time the orchestra presents musical stories that have caused a sensation not only in concert halls but also on the big screen. Works such as "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks" and "Lord of the Seven Seas" will be heard and take visitors into the world of film music.
But Mediterranean sounds will also be heard on the banks of the Main in Frankfurt, when pieces such as the famous "Concierto de Aranjuez", the "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" and the rousing "Boléro" will captivate the audience.
Early in the evening, the hr-Bigband will provide musical highlights and good humor to get the audience in the mood for the upcoming concert evening.
