On her powerful new album "Amore Gigante" - it's Gianna Nannini's 18th studio production - the bundle of energy doesn't mince words: "I chose the title quite deliberately, it's a hymn to the strongest feeling known to mankind - I pay homage to 'Amore' in all its variations. So in the sense of friendship, eroticism, empathy. Only this emotion is the only reliable bulwark against aggression, war, exploitation. Love makes man free, peaceful and fair." Musically, Nannini says she has "returned to my very own tradition from the Eighties: more sweaty rock than friendly pop. I still get plenty of joy from acting out and passing on euphoria in my work. Without ecstasy, my life means nothing." The Italo rock queen's latest work was recorded in both Los Angeles and London. With "Amore Gigante", Gianna Nannini proves that she is not without reason the only Italian singer/songwriter who has had fervent fans all over Europe for decades. And that's despite the fact that she continues to consistently write and sing her lyrics in Italian.
