Deadly Sins and Virtues

Music &. Arias by George Frideric Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Adolph Hasse, Antonio Caldara to modern timesSoprano Simone Kermes
Musical Director & Violin: Gianpiero Zanocco
Orchestra: Amici Veneziani

The "crazy queen of baroque opera", known for her flamboyant concert performances - sparking coloratura fireworks, dizzying top notes and mad tempos included: Simone Kermes.

Between "Inferno e Paradiso", between hell and paradise, the Echo-Klassik prize winner spans the arc of her programme. Modern deadly sins - pride, greed, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, sloth - are contrasted with ancient virtues such as humility, charity, chastity, patience, moderation, benevolence and courage.

To these contrasts, the affects of Baroque music open up a wide spectrum of thoughts, fantasies, sounds. Energies and emotions are unleashed, a roller coaster of feelings, exhilaration, pageantry, purity and beauty unite in the unconditional love of music. As a guest gift of her debut at the International May Festival, Simone Kermes offers the new concert evening in Wiesbaden as a premiere, before moving on to concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf or the Bremen Glocke Further information about the event and program flyer: http://www.staatstheater-wiesbaden.de/spielplan-internationale-maifestspiele-2019/
