With Jim Black, Elias Stemeseder, Óskar Guðjónsson, Chris Tordini
Jim Black, the Brooklyn-based jazz drummer, is like a natural musical phenomenon: He is marveled at and admired for his exuberant creativity and for a virtuosity whose guide is always the band and its expression, its sound and the communication between the musicians. For Jim Black's endless curiosity, no genre boundaries exist between modern jazz, electronic, samples, indie, prog or avant-garde rock.
"Malamute" is the name of his new quartet with musical soulmates, Icelandic saxophonist Óskar Guðjónsson and two musicians Jim Black has played with more frequently: Much sought-after electric bassist and guitarist Chris Tordini from the New York jazz scene, and Salzburg pianist and keyboardist Elias Stemeseder.
