NFollowing a successful tour with another Swedish band Goat last year, Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation are on headline tour this year with their second album "Mirage". The album shows the band shaping sprawling, hypnotic jams into nightly serenades with more luck than brains. The actual musical realizations are still a mystery to the band themselves:
"We agree that we don't remember much about how these songs came about, but they were all written on the road and most of them were finished right away. Some of them were really long to begin with, but it was very liberating to break away from the seemingly obligatory psych jams for a bit. Afterwards, we noticed that none of the songs were written during the day, which might be the reason for the hazy memory. Perhaps 'Mirage' is an album about taking off but having no idea how to go on - the strength you draw from being completely lost."
JOSEFIN ÖHRN + THE LIBERATION have derived their stage name from the secondary title of the "Tibetan Book Of The Dead" - "Liberation Upon Hearing In The Between". They have quickly made a name for themselves around the world with their music, creating a radiant sound that effortlessly stands out from the increasingly staid and paradoxical mass of modern psychedelic music. Their new album creates a parallel world of disorientation and liberation in which you'd be a fool not to get carried away!
