"Beethoven changed the world forever," Kristian Bezuidenhout is certain. He has taken technique and virtuosity to a whole new level. Beethoven must be played with full physical commitment, the Australian pianist with South African roots is convinced, because his music is physical, full of ardour and boiling passion. Bezuidenhout brings Beethoven's literal Sturm und Drang in the form of his Sonata op. 31 No. 2, called "The Tempest", and its lively sister op. 31 No. 3 to the Musikfest stage with fortepiano. However, he delivers an authentic sound impression not only with historical instruments, but also with contemporary compositions: Piano music from the time of the French Revolution gives a glimpse of where a Beethoven also found musical inspiration, which found expression, among other things, in the "Eroica".
