That sounds exciting. For her new album, Goners, Laura Gibson wanted "the songs to feel like fables." So the new songs are teeming with animals, transformations, hauntings and premonitions. Women become wolves, men turn into machines, ghostly children wave in the rearview mirror, a scar becomes a memory store. Gibson has created with "Goners", according to the music magazine Westzeit, a typical Laura Gibson work, "in which melancholy, consolation, pain and hope are blended into that peculiar melange that distinguishes her work as a songwriter" without showing depressive traits. After all, she does address the death of her beloved father, even if it happened some time ago. Rolling Stone praises "Goners" as proving that the American's intense folk-pop songs have never been more affecting, as it's a "probing into the barely comprehensible."
