Meuser shows scrap - things that have been discarded, that once had a use and a function.
Meuser takes up this material and releases it from its former purpose by cutting, welding, compressing, pressing, folding and painting it. The surface treatment is always also a refinement. It gives the objects their own feel, makes them appear dry, porous or velvety. The process of detachment from a once busy reality is completed by a rededication. Meuser's titles give his sculptures a name and thus a new essence and a wit all of their own. Their arrangement in space allows them to become walls, installations that tell cryptic stories.
