Somewhere in Africa, in a hidden castle, lives an evil wizard. He searches and finds all the secrets of the world in his magic ball. It also tells him that in faraway Arabia - in an enchanted cave - there must be an old, rusty oil lamp, with magical powers. Whoever possesses it will have all his wishes granted . Only a brave young man can retrieve it from its hiding place. The wizard is desperate to have this lamp. He sets off for Baghdad and there meets the guileless Aladdin, whom he uses in his scheme. But with the help of the sorcerer's apprentice Hassan, Aladdin sees through the magician's sinister plans and machinations just in time. He does not deliver the magic lamp to him - as intended - but keeps it for himself. Now he can dispose of the useful services of the lamp spirit. Because he is prudent with it and remains moderate in his demands, he becomes not only rich, but also initially extremely happy with the Sultan's daughter, Princess Adonide. Then the magician returns as an oil lamp merchant in disguise. Is the happiness short-lived? What happens to Aladdin? This musical fairy tale from 1001 Nights by Karlheinz Komm with music by Norbert Neukamp using classical compositions by Nicolay Rimsky-Korsakov promises fun for the whole family.
