Since his departure as a reciter of poetry, Germany's best-known reciter Lutz Görner has devoted himself entirely to 19th century piano music. Five years ago he developed a new kind of piano recital in which he always focuses on one composer. As with his legendary recital evenings on Heinrich Heine and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Görner is always intoxicatingly well-prepared and seems to have absorbed everything about the composer in order to make his piano evenings as diverse as the composers are and to delight the audience.
Of course, he does not play the piano himself on these evenings, but has been working for years with the young pianist Nadia Singer. She is 26 years young, Russian with German ancestors, passed her concert exam in Rostov-on-Don four years ago and subsequently worked with Lutz Görner on six piano recitals, all of which have also been released on CD. In Frankfurt four years ago she won 1st prize in the International Rachmaninoff Competition.
With Nadia Singer, a pianist presents herself who, despite the greatest demands made by the concert waltzes, shows no limits to her technique. Despite all the difficulties, her playing retains musical creative power, combined with an effortless ease. Brilliant touches and skilful use of the pedal make her playing seem transparent even in the most turbulent passages. She ignites musical fireworks at the end with "La Valse" by Ravel, dismissing an incredulously astonished audience.
