Even after its seven-month hiatus, Schauspiel Frankfurt is not afraid to tackle socio-political issues and sometimes put its finger in the wound. This is also the case in ODE, which could not be more topical: "Political discourse and its artistic reflection is the cornerstone of an open and free society. The attacks on political and artistic expression, as well as those who make them, by a resurgent right-wing on the one hand and self-imposed bans on speech and thought within the left on the other, paralyse this discourse. Thomas Melle's piece explores the role of art in general and the individual in particular. How can the reproduction of always the same mistakes be broken, the creation of always new/old perpetrators and the production of repressive systems be prevented?"
