Culture continues to pick up steam after the long Corona hiatus - even if the pandemic is unfortunately far from over. But with 3G (or in some places 2G) and hygiene concepts built on the experience of recent months, bookworms and literature lovers in particular can look forward to plenty of great cultural events around the Book Fair in October. On six days of events, around 100 readings will be offered in various locations.

This year, the most important new publications in the fiction, non-fiction, poetry and comics sections will once again be presented. And the traditional reading marathon "Literatur im Römer"" on Book Fair Wednesday and Thursday, 20 and 21 October, must not be missing from the programme. Young book fans will also be catered for: Open Books Kids will once again have a generous space in the German National Library for family events at the weekend, this year with Philip Waechter, Lena Hach, Alex Rühle and Markus Orths, among others.

The programme of Open Books 2021 once again impresses with its immense versatility. Participants include Sönke Wortmann, Alice Brauner, Bodo Kirchhoff, John von Düffel, Pascale Hugues, Wolf Biermann, Thomas Gsella, Heinz Rudolf Kunze and many more. In addition, for the second time, the Volksbühne am Großen Hirschgraben will host the Frankfurt Evening, where new books about Frankfurt will be presented, moderated by Michael Quast.

The Open Books reading festival will, of course, take place in compliance with the applicablehealth and hygiene regulations. In order to ensure that seating capacities are maintained and that tracking is possible in case of doubt, visitors will again have to book personalised tickets in advance for a service fee of 1.20 euros. Booking will be possible from the beginning of October until 10 a.m. on the day of the event, depending on availability. Only the Open Books Kids events are completely free of charge.

You can find the full programme and details of venues, times and tickets at http://www.openbooks-frankfurt.de. There you will also find a media library, where selected readings will then also be livestreamed.
