When Pilobolus recreated the nominated films in silhouettes at the Oscars in 2007, an audience of billions marveled. Then in 2009, Pilobolus created its first full-length production, "Shadowland," a crossover between dance, shadow puppetry and artistry. "Shadowland" thrilled audiences in over 30 countries from Berlin to Kuwait, from Beijing to Rio, in German-speaking countries alone "Shadowland" reached more than a million viewers. So much success demands a sequel - "Shadowland 2 - The New Adventure".
This time the viewer is immersed in jungle forests, music bars and machine worlds, populated by cars, ostrich birds, robot people and cloud creatures. Scenes from the circus, rock concert, acrobatics and cinema merge. Compared to the original version of "Shadowland", which still took place mainly between a light source and a large screen, here multiple screens are used simultaneously, the choreographies interweave with the shadow images, the "real" world mixes with the "shadow world".
The live performance takes on traits of a three-dimensional theatrical video game, in which our virtual world, with its screens and confusing simultaneities, develops an obstinate magic. Pilobolus and Semmel Concerts proudly present the next generation of shadow theater: "Shadowland 2 - The New Adventure."
