The hr-Sinfonieorchester is coming to your home - at least in the form of streaming concerts. No concerts in front of an audience are possible in May either.
This is why the hr-Sinfonieorchester continues to present streaming concerts: in the process, the orchestra has come up with something for children and families: this time, a "Spotlight Family". In the unconventional discussion concert on Thursday. May 6, François Leleux will take the podium for the first time. The stirring French oboist and conductor will present Claude Debussy's delightful "Little Suite" in this online edition, as well as Igor Stravinsky's well-known "Pulcinella Suite" - an homage by the original Russian ballet music grandmaster to the famous figure of the Italian commedia dell'arte. As last time, the hr3 presenter duo Tobi Kämmerer and Tanja Rösner will be present. The two will ensure that children and families can ask questions live at home. On Thursday, May 20, Franz Schubert's "Great Symphony" will be on the concert program. Conductor Manfred Honeck will be the guest with this late masterpiece by the great German Romantic composer, which inspired the symphonic tradition from Schumann to Bruckner and Mahler. To set the mood, Honeck will present an orchestral work by the contemporary Scottish composer James MacMillan, which unfolds a spiritual power all its own.
The musicians of both orchestras continue to use the livestreams to draw attention to the precarious situation of freelance colleagues and call for donations to the German Orchestra Foundation's emergency relief fund.
