By Michel Houellebecq
In a theatrical adaptation by Anna-Sophia Güther & Tom Gerber France in election fever. Will right-wing populist Marine Le Pen be elected president this time? From a bored distance, literature professor François follows the events in front of his home television screen. He has other problems, because he is "a stinkin' normal man with a boner" whose last student sweetheart has just said goodbye. But, stale luck, there's the Internet and YouPorn ... .Michel Houellebecq's latest novel, "Subjugation" (much admired and much maligned), sketches a vision of the very near future in which, after all, it is not Marine Le Pen who wins the election but the presidential candidate of the "Brotherhood of Muslims". The new alliance of state and religion is accepted without objection by the self-sedating intellectuals. François, too, quickly comes to terms, trying only to get his sheep in the dry. You can read Houellebecq's book as a vicious political dystopia. But it is more likely to be an astute and at times furiously funny self-portrait of an enlightened bourgeois class wallowing in lethargy and disinterest. With a one-man show, Tom Gerber is directed by Uwe Eric Laufenberg. Cast: Uwe Eric Laufenberg (director), Matthias Schaller (stage), Anne Buffetrille (costumes) Text source and more information about this event: http://www.staatstheater-wiesbaden.de/programm/spielplan/unterwerfung-2017-2018/3428/
