(ffm) VGF and HSF invite you to the summer festival with numerous attractions for young and old at the Verkehrsmuseum, Rheinlandstraße 133, on Sunday, August 19. Admission is free.
With the support of Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF), the Historische Straßenbahn der Stadt Frankfurt am Main (HSF) association is holding its summer festival at the Frankfurt Transport Museum on Sunday, 19 August, between 10 am and 5 pm. Admission is free for all visitors on this day. There will be a variety of activities for young and old visitors on the museum grounds.
Special exhibition with vehicles on the theme of "Electricity and Technology"
In the open-air grounds of the Transport Museum, several construction vehicles from the VGF fleet will be presented on the occasion of the summer festival. These are wagons used for the maintenance of the road and underground infrastructure.
Multiple play attractions at the summer festival will ensure that young visitors to the museum can not only marvel at the large trains, but also get active themselves. Among other things, they will have the opportunity to let off steam on a bouncy castle provided by the German Child Protection Association Ried and to set trains in motion themselves on a model railway layout for children.
For the catering of all guests is also provided - no matter whether the sense stands for hearty from the grill or rather sweet. In addition to the food, drinks will also be available at family-friendly prices.
On the occasion of the summer festival, a shuttle service with historic buses and trams will be set up. The veteran trams will run every 15 minutes from the Festhalle/Messe stop via Hauptbahnhof and Stresemannallee/Gartenstraße to the Transport Museum and back. It is possible to get on and off the bus at all stops along the route. The veteran buses shuttle from Südbahnhof to the Transport Museum and back every 30 minutes without stopping. The schedule with all trips can be downloaded online at http://www.hsf-ffm.de/sommerfest.
The tariff and transport conditions of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) apply to travel on the historic buses and trains. However, bicycles are not allowed on the buses. Tickets can be purchased at the RMV ticket machines at the stops, unfortunately ticket sales are not possible on the trains of the special transport.
