Deserted by her husband, depressed alcoholic Rachel Watson longs for a happier life. By proxy, she projects all her desires onto the perfect couple she observes daily from the train - happy and in love. They seem to be living a perfect life. But then Rachel observes something that changes everything. Keeping quiet seems impossible and so Rachel goes to the police. Can her observations be trusted? Or is she really as untrustworthy as everyone says?
"The Girl on the Train" is a masterpiece of elusive realities and purposeful manipulation. However, the suspense comes not only in the criminal search for the truth that the viewer embarks on with the main protagonist, Rachel, but also in watching her journey. How Rachel fights her way out of the position of self-pitying voyeur and actively begins to get to the bottom of things and take back control of her life.
The German premiere of this tense thriller with a complex plot and surprising twists is staged by director Psyche Stott for the ETF, known to Frankfurt audiences from the eco-thriller "The Children" (2019).
