CAN IT BE A LITTLE LESS?
In the past twenty years, the amount of plastic packaging
in Germany has doubled. A large part of this is accounted for by food packaging.
Responsible for this development are, among other things, the "food-to-go" trend as well as the growing number of single and two-person
households. In addition, the transport, storage and trade of food is also becoming more and more packaging-intensive.
Sustainable solutions are not obvious. Rather, a detailed analysis of the causes of the packaging flood
is important. Manufacturers, retailers and consumers are equally challenged,
but also politicians.
In the context of the Frankfurt Citizens' University, the ISOE (Institute for Social-Ecological Research) therefore wants to bring representatives from science, retail and the food industry to one table and talk to them about ways out of the packaging flood. Where are the obstacles, what alternatives are there and what can consumers do themselves in their everyday lives? Drop by the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (Building E) if these very questions also concern you.
