With three challenging, globally acclaimed albums, British quintet While She Sleeps have established themselves internationally as a staple of metalcore. With artfully composed, hugely powerful and at moments intricately progressive songs, the Sheffield band defines what modern heavy metal should sound like today. Their exciting, coherent music is understood all over the world, as evidenced by sold-out tours from Europe to Japan, from Australia to the USA. Even in their home country, While She Sleeps unite fans of every metal genre. In 2012, their debut album "This Is the Six" climbed to #27 in the charts immediately after its release and won both a Kerrang! and a Metal Hammer award. Their third, and most recent effort to date, 2017's "You Are We" proved even more successful, reaching Top 10 in the U.K. and U.S. Heatseekers charts, as well as numerous Top 20 placements from Europe to Asia. Despite a sprawling world tour, the next feat is already in store: March 1 sees the release of "So What?", the band's fourth long player, which once again demonstrates While She Sleeps' ambitious musical progression. Between February 3 and 23, 2019, the quintet will then come to Germany for nine shows, with stops in Hamburg, Münster, Leipzig, Berlin, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and Cologne. Five friends you shall be - with probably few new band formations this aspect played such a decisive role as with While She Sleeps. The five musicians from Sheffield were all busy in other bands when they first formed, but had known and liked each other since school days, shared a taste in music and wanted to jam together. So in 2006, singer Jordan Widdowson, bassist Aaran McKenzie, drummer Adam Savage and guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh met and immediately clicked. Still, it took three years for While She Sleeps to mature from side project to main drive in the minds and hearts of its members. With the exception of frontman Widdowson, who had other commitments and was replaced by another friend in Lawrence Taylor, all the musicians left their ancestral band to focus solely on While She Sleeps.
