The marquee show of the Cirque du Soleil, Luzia, which makes a guest appearance in Frankfurt starting today, is enjoying sensational demand. Already four weeks before her start in the typical white Grand-Chapiteau tent, which is erected on the Ratsweg, almost 50,000 tickets for the guest performance have been sold. Due to the strong response, 5 additional performances have now been scheduled between July 21 and 23.
The globally acclaimed marquee production LUZIA transports audiences to an imaginary, surreal Mexico with visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatics, where an opulent world between dream and reality awaits. Cirque du Soleil shows a breathtaking artistic round dance at the festival site on Ratsweg in Frankfurt from June 13 to July 23, 2023, which begins in a film set, leads from the ocean to a smoky dance hall and on to a desert. LUZIA is a colorful pictorial arc of places, figures and sounds of Mexico that reflect the tradition and modernity of this country.
Poetically guided by light ('luz' in Spanish) and rain ('lluvia'), LUZIA tells of the fascinating encounters of a parachuted traveler. He encounters culture, nature and mythology of a dreamlike land with a mysterious menagerie of characters and figures. LUZIA enchants the viewer with the artful incorporation of water elements into the acrobatic performances - a first for a Cirque du Soleil marquee production.
