NIGHT OF THE MUSEUMS: art, culture, undiscovered places, experiments and electronic beats late into the night

Frankfurt, Offenbach and Eschborn invite you to the Night of Museums 2025 - with over 40 museums, music, experiments and unusual perspectives

A night that builds bridges between eras, neighbourhoods and forms of expression: On Saturday, 10 May, over 40 museums, galleries and cultural venues in Frankfurt, Offenbach and Eschborn will open their doors until the early hours of the morning. The Night of Museums 2025 promises to once again be a kaleidoscope of art, science, music and performative culture - with just one ticket, which for the first time also entitles you to use the entire RMV network.

"This night shows the vibrant diversity of our museum landscape," explains Ina Hartwig, Head of Cultural Affairs. It's about rediscovering cultural spaces - from the baroque sculpture hall to electronic sound installations, from the city archives to the roof terrace. What once began as an extended museum opening has developed into a nocturnal cultural movement with a festival character.

Science to touch, beats between busts

Numerous institutions use the night to show their buildings in an unusual light. The Giersch Museum is focussing on questions about the future of the planet and invites visitors to readings, workshops and talks. Comics take centre stage at the Klingspor Museum Offenbach, while the Scape° makes science a sensory experience.

The night also turns into a club: from 9.30 pm, the MOMEM is transformed into an electronic soundscape, while DJ Naro plays at the Jewish Museum. At the Museum of Communication, the audience dances between voguing, drag and electro, while at the Liebieghaus electronic sounds can be heard between Isa Genzken's sculptures.

Viewpoints and insights

A particular attraction lies in the opportunity to explore otherwise inaccessible places. For example, the night-time ascent of the cathedral tower or torch tours in the fisherman's vault under the Old Bridge. The European Central Bank opens its art collection by appointment, while the west façade of the Grossmarkthalle shines in bright blue and yellow to mark Europe Day.

The Massif E, a new cultural venue in the former E cinema, presents the restored mural by Oscar-winning set designer Hein Heckroth - a symbolic link between Frankfurt's cinematic and museum history.

Young perspectives, historical anniversaries

2025 puts photography centre stage: The Städel is focussing on Annegret Soltau, one of the most influential feminist artists, while the Haus am Dom is showing the poetic imagery of Manfred Koch. Crespo Open Space is participating with works for the "After Nature" prize, and the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation is offering international positions including AI discourse.

Parallel to this, the Museum Angewandte Kunst is launching its exhibition "100 Years of New Frankfurt", kicking off the anniversary year of the same name.

Culture by the dozen

Admission to the Night of the Museums costs 17 euros, concessions 12 euros, and entitles you to travel on all RMV public transport - from five hours before the start of the event until 11 a.m. the following day. In addition, shuttle buses will connect the venues in a circular route, while a historic tram will run between selected stops.

Admission is free for holders of the MuseumsuferCard and the KUFTI children's and youth ticket - but without RMV use.

Those wishing to attend should refrain from bringing large bags and their own drinks; controls are planned. Tickets are available online, at the museums and at the information point on Paulsplatz.
