It's not just the numerous comic adaptations that have changed the image of the colourful books in Germany. The sophisticated graphic novels or original stories told in comic form have also caused the popularity of this medium to rise significantly in recent years. And so it is little wonder that long queues always form in front of comic shops and bookstores when once a year it is said: today is FREE COMIC DAY!
For this campaign, many publishers and retailers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland produce special issues that fans can then take away for free. In 2017, there is a choice of thirty different titles in total, covering a wide range of comics on offer in Germany.
