ASE wants to scare away pigeons at the main entrance of the Galluswarte S-Bahn station

Take cover: At the main entrance of the Galluswarte S-Bahn station, many a passenger or pedestrian comes into conflict with the numerous pigeons that make themselves at home here. The municipal office for road construction and development (ASE) now wants to change that. But how is it to succeed, the animals at this highly-frequented place to vergrämen?

Derzeit first preparations run, it starts with a thorough cleaning of the bridge underside on Saturday, 17 March. Following this, steel sheets will be installed on the underside of the bridge to prevent the birds from settling there. In addition, netting will be strung in the side areas to keep the pigeons away from the bridge area. The work will be carried out in sections to minimise disruption to road users.

A total of four weeks are planned for the work. The measure has been coordinated with the city pigeon project, which will catch and relocate young animals in the run-up.

Should the deterrence in front of the main entrance be successful, it is planned in the long term to also install corresponding steel sheets and nets in the areas above Mainzer Landstraße, the tram station and the southern pavement.
