Even though there were a few weather capers, the visitors of the Space Edition of the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME didn't let them spoil the party. Even with wind and rain, the atmosphere in and around the Commerzbank Arena was great, so the organisers can once again draw a more than positive conclusion this year. 180,000 visitors came to Frankfurt from all over the world and once again turned the Commerzbank Arena into the biggest club in the world for three days. And there was also a lot to celebrate: more than 230 DJs and acts played on the various stages and were celebrated by more party people than ever before.

And right on the first day, in addition to the once again spectacular opening show, in which a 28-metre high, original and true-to-scale replica of the Ariane 5 rocket was unveiled in front of around 55,000 visitors in the arena, there was a real bombshell news that caused thunderous applause in the arena: BigCityBeats will send the WORLD CLUB DOME into space. Sounds crazy? But it will soon become reality! What exactly is planned has already been revealed: A DJ will be brought to the International Space Station ISS. In order to be able to create this interstellar club project, ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano was trained as a DJ by Bernd Breiter and his resident DJ Le Shuuk at the European Astronaut Centre EAC Cologne. Parmitano will be the first Italian commander on the ISS - and the first DJ to play the first set in Outer Space. As planned, the set will be broadcast live to Ibiza on 13 August 2019 - for the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Cruise Edition.

That's guaranteed to make for some spectacular pictures once again. However, stars such as Marshmello or trance pioneer Armin van Buuren, who catapulted the packed arena into a true sound ecstasy with their sets on the first day, showed that it is also possible to party grandly here on earth. But it wasn't just the party guests who were completely out of their minds - company founder Bernd Breiter was too. He received an award for his commitment to weaving the fields of entertainment <x>ampersand</x> science. Emmet Fletcher from the ESA presented the Frankfurt native with two solar cells from a wing of the Hubble Space Telescope, which was in space from 1998 to 2002. "This collaboration between BigCityBeats and ESA is just great and helps us reach young people. And in a way I never thought possible. And that's why I'm presenting this very special gift to Bernd Breiter - for his vision of uniting space and entertainment," says Emmet Fletcher, Head of Partnerships Unit ESA. A gift, then, out of this world.

One highlight followed the next

Whoever thought that this was the end of the party powder, was sorely mistaken. Also the two following days were a mega club party of superlatives. On Saturday the performance of Steve Aoki feat. Timbaland in the Mainstage was THE highlight of the day. Already in the run-up there was speculation how the performance would be received. The two US-Americans dared the almost impossible: They combined EDM and Hip-Hop. And all in one set! It was clear that the 55,000 party people in the arena couldn't stop. And when The Black Eyed Peas came on stage as a surprise act without prior notice and joined the party, the joy of the crowd could be heard all the way to the ISS. The Black Eyed Peas liked it so much at last year's BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Winter Edition that they spontaneously came to the arena to be there live. That can't be topped anymore? Yes it can, because The Black Eyed Peas spontaneously played a small, intimate club concert in front of 150 people during the after-party, definitely creating a "never forgetting moment".

Three days full of good mood and great moments

The guests from 70 nations got some unforgettable moments not only in the arena. The new outdoor Mainstage was especially well received. Here people danced happily and exuberantly to chart hits with Lost Frequencies, to house tunes by HUGEL from France, but also to electrifying and polarizing hip-hop with Tinie Tempah and to dancepop with US superstar Jason Derulo. Diagonally opposite the Outdoor Mainstage was the empire for the hardest beats of electronic music: the Zombie Stage. If the stage reminded you of "Nightmares on Elm Street", you were right. Because here it was indeed dark, gloomy, hard and brute, with among others two of the most successful hardstyle projects in the world: Bassjackers and Da Tweekaz. There were some disappointments for fans. For example, some missed the set by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, which had to be brought forward to Sunday. But the great closing show delivered by Robin Schulz made up for that.

Even though it wasn't quite as hot as last year, the pool area was very popular with visitors, especially during the midday hours, and the originally designed DIXI Stage initially caused some confusion among some visitors, but then an amused grin - followed by an unbroken good party mood.

There was all this and so much more to experience at SPACE EDITION 2019. With the event once again being such a huge success, this news doesn't really come as a surprise, but that won't diminish the joy among fans, because.

.BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Frankfurt returns in 2020

With sets from Don Diablo, David Guetta and Robin Schulz, the BigCityBeats club spaceship extended its flaps, heading for Frankfurt. But not without announcing its flight into orbit. But the gates of the world's biggest club did not close without announcing the next voyages into club space. First, BigCityBeats will send its vibes into space to the ISS in August 2019 - until the club spaceship then heads to Düsseldorf for the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Winter Edition in January 2020. Coming to the first big party of the year will be none other than the DJ world number one for the past three years: The One and only - MARTIN GARRIX!

And the summer edition of the all-encompassing club happening has also been announced: On June 5, 6 and 7, 2020, Frankfurt will once again become the earthly homebase of club music. We'll definitely be there again - you too?
