Carolers bless Kaisersaal

Mayor Peter Feldmann: ‚You are part of Germany's largest social action'

(kus) In colorfully decorated royal costumes, more than 150 carol singers visited the Römer on Friday, January 6. The children from the city's Catholic parishes came to City Hall after a service in the Kaiserdom to give their blessing to the magistrate, city councillors and the city administration.

Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann welcomed the dedicated children and said, "I am very pleased to welcome you to Frankfurt's Römer. The children of our city deliver the blessing for our city. There can hardly be a more beautiful tradition."

The fact that the many children help other people through their participation in the carol singing and thus demonstrate commitment and a sense of responsibility is highly creditable to them all, the city leader said. Feldmann continued, "You are part of the largest social campaign in Germany. Thank you for your commitment."

City Dean Johannes zu Eltz said in his greeting: "Sternsinger sing and collect in Germany, so that the light does not go out in poor countries. In Kenya we can see what effects unbridled energy consumption can have worldwide. The carol singers make us sensitive to this."

After giving the blessing and presenting the Light of Peace and the blessing plaque to the Lord Mayor, the children sang a song, performing what they also present as they walk through the city.
