It's not the new nice area at Frankfurt's main station where hippsters, students or bankers meet to talk about art, share packages or scene rumors over Aperol Spritz. The Pure Platinum is a table dance club in the Taunusstrasse. In this area live the "lost souls" of the city. Drugs, violence or prostitution are the order of the day here.
When it gets dark and the restaurants and bars close, many night owls move on to the Pure Platinum. Here, party´s and bachelor parties are celebrated in a classy ambience until the wee hours of the morning. Angie Lexx is a table dancer. She's one of 35 ladies and 4 gentlemen who pole-dance and animate guests at night when the colored lights circle and the beats boom.
The mother of three is married and is used to lustful eyes staring at her. Guests who want to get assaultive are given clear instructions. Look only, do not touch! Angie loves to dance. It was also the reason she decided to take on the unusual job even before she graduated. "I've been dancing for more than ten years and I still enjoy it as much today as I did on day one. I taught myself everything and have built up a good reputation in this tough job," says the pole dancer, who will be working as a trainer in a dance school from September. Meanwhile, even requests come from all over the world, so it does not seem unusual when Angie is excited about her next job in Las Vegas.
For the photo shoot "Kleider machen Leute" Angie takes off exceptionally not, but on. Tailor Stephan Görner, initiator of the campaign, tailored her a wine-red double-breasted blazer made of fine velvet and trousers with a glencheck pattern. Appreciation and respect for exceptional professions and the people who perform them are the focus of the campaign. "We want the garbage man, the sewer worker or the table dancer to receive the same recognition and prestige as the people who normally wear a suit in their jobs", says Sven Müller, co-initiator of the campaign.
Angie Lexx is delighted with the fine threads and will wear them at the 2nd Kleider machen Leute- charity gala in aid of the Leberecht Foundation on 12 November at the Hotel Kempinski.
