Frankfurt only became a major city after numerous villages were incorporated in the 19th and 20th centuries. District guide Sascha Mahl will lead a tour of historic Griesheim on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, showing how life used to be in the independent rural community.
The tour was created through thorough research in archives and the support of the local historical society. During the 90-minute tour, participants will learn how Griesheim got its start as a farming village in the Middle Ages and developed over the centuries into a major industrial location. The tour provides a glimpse into otherwise closed backyards and offers many a surprising insight.
The starting point of the tours is the south entrance of the Griesheim train station at the level of Autogenstraße 1. The participation fee for adults is 10 €; for children, young people up to 16 years and holders of the Frankfurt Pass 5 €. The dates:
