Events of the VHS in the context of the Frankfurt Book Fair

(kus) On the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Frankfurt Adult Education Centre (VHS) offers accompanying events. Among them are courses on broadcast journalism, a film series, a writing workshop and a reading.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the subject of a seminar on the theory and practice of broadcast journalism. With radio editor Peter Seidel and cooperation partner Radio X, a one-hour magazine programme will be developed and broadcast. Interested students can expand their writing skills with techniques of recording and live reporting. The introduction, a practical phase, editorial meetings and the broadcast date will take place on six dates between Saturday, 30 September and Friday, 3 November. The course can be booked under course number 2104-57 and costs 115 euros.

To mark the Book Fair's focus on France, Filmforum Höchst, which is part of the VHS, will be showing cinematic approaches to French literature between October 5 and October 11. Among the films to be shown is "La Tête en friche - The Labyrinth of Words" directed by Jean Becker and starring Gérard Depardieu and Gisèle Casadesus in the leading roles, "Alceste à bicyclette - Molière on a bicycle" by Philippe Le Guay with the two acting stars Fabrice Luchini and Lambert Wilson, the Luis Buñuel classic "Belle de Jour - Belle of the Day" with Cathérine Deneuve and the film "Juste la fin du monde - Simply the End of the World" by star director Xavier Dolan, which won an award at this year's Cannes Film Festival. All films will be shown as originals with subtitles at Filmforum Höchst, Emmerich-Josef-Str. 46a. Admission costs seven euros each. At <link http: www.xn--filmforum-hchst-9ya87e.de _blank>

Those who like to write can participate in the VHS writing workshop "Schreiben vor Ort". On the weekend of October 7 and 8, five Frankfurt locations will be deliberately visited to become a stage on which to set fictional stories. After the research on site, the impressions experienced will then be integrated into texts through writing tasks. The writing workshop can be booked under the course number 2104-61 and costs 52 euros. It takes place in the bookstore Schutt in Bornheim.

Following the Frankfurt Book Fair, the VHS invites you to a Russian-language reading. Two authors will read at the VHS on Saturday afternoon, October 28. Maria Flock from Moscow, who studied theatre studies, Slavic studies and art history in Frankfurt, writes poetry in Russian and has done several German translations. She will read from her poetry collection "Vagabond Freedom".

Tamriko Sholi is a young journalist and writer well-known in Ukraine. She will talk about her experiences in emigration and read from her book "I want to go home". The reading costs eight euros. Registration under course number 4480-48 is requested.
