Gold medals for Glaabsbräu at Frankfurt International Beer Trophy 2018

Congratulations: the traditional brewery Glaabsbräu, the oldest private brewery in southern Hesse, was awarded three gold medals, each with the predicate award "Best beer of the competition" as well as a silver medal in the context of the Frankfurt International Beer Trophy Competition 2018 - and that's fitting for the "Day of Beer". Now that's something to drink to. Gold was awarded to the Kellertrübes "1744", "dunkles Hefeweizen" and "Dunkles". In addition, Glaabsbräu also won the highest award "Best beer of the competition" for these beers in the respective categories "German style - Keller Bier" and "wheat beer - Hefeweizen dunkel" and "Dark/Dunkel".

"These awards are recognition for our unique brewing and raw material philosophy. No less than three beers that have been named the best beer in their respective categories fill us with great pride. And one award from our home region especially!", says Julian Menner, 1st Brewmaster and Beer Sommelier, who recently appeared as a jury member at Meininger's International Craft Beer Award 2018. Glaabsbräu won the silver medal for their export. Glaabsbräu sets higher quality standards for its beers than those of the Reinheitsgebot and does not use additives, chemical stabilizers, or color beer, all of which are allowed in the Reinheitsgebot. In addition, all beers are brewed individually according to their own recipe and with natural hops.

The Frankfurt Beer Trophy is part of the Frankfurt International Trophy, which took place under the patronage of Frankfurt's Lord Mayor Peter Feldman and was represented by 2-star chef, Andreas Krolik as Honorary President 2018. A total of 430 beers from 30 countries were judged by the panel of experts and restaurateurs. Including wine and spirits, a total of 2250 beverages from 40 countries were judged by 300 experts from 20 countries With 43 beers receiving awards, Germany is far ahead, followed by the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Poland, Brazil, Spain and the Czech Republic.
