Gutsje-Gligger for Frankfurt - A chewing gum machine as a dispenser of luck

A chewing gum vending machine of a somewhat different kind has been presented by Mayor and Head of the Church Uwe Becker in the Central Library of the City Library. The automat donates namely no chewing gums, but "Gutsje-Gligger" with luck messages. The whole thing is a campaign of the Catholic Adult Education. With "Frankfurter bitten für Frankfurter" (Ask Frankfurt for Frankfurt), they want to strengthen togetherness in the Main metropolis in an original way. At the converted chewing gum machine, which stands since Wednesday, 1 July, in the central library, Frankfurters can pull their luck messages.

Uwe Becker pulled the first good wish then also immediately personally. "Social togetherness and for each other starts in small things," said Becker at the premiere drawing, which he conducted together with Markus Breuer, the head of the Catholic Adult Education. "A good thought, kind words or even a friendly message from Frankfurters for Frankfurters to give away happiness and joy is, at first glance, a supposedly small idea. But this idea has the potential to make a big impact. Let's give joy together and strengthen the sense of unity in Frankfurt."

With its action, the Catholic Adult Education wants to bring citizens into a playful exchange and show with a wink of the eye that together we can master upcoming challenges. For Markus Breuer, the Gutsje-Gligger is a cheerful and fresh way of asking for each other, without a direct connection to places of worship: "This action is so valuable because it shows: Frankfurt - you are so wonderful! And the city - that's us people here. We take care of each other, we can count on each other!"

Taking part in the "Frankfurter bitten für Frankfurter" campaign is quite simple. All people in the city, from bankers to sushi chefs, from carpenters to educators, as well as groups from youth or senior citizen work, can write down their wishes, requests or promises and post them on a stele next to the vending machine. The KEB collects the texts, prepares them on small banderoles and packs them together with a tiny candle in a ball. Ready is the "Gutsje-Gligger". The lucky balls can be drawn for 1 Euro. The proceeds benefit the help for homeless people at Franziskustreff Frankfurt.
