Memories of the Corona Pandemic - Rallying Calls to the Urban Community

We are still in the midst of the crisis caused by the Corona virus. We are still fighting with united forces against the further spread of the pandemic. Bad news still dominates the daily news. But one thing is certain: this crisis will pass. And as we cautiously look towards a better future, the question arises: How will we in Frankfurt remember the Corona pandemic? What is (has been) important to us in Frankfurt in this situation?

It is a very special time we are living in right now. And the Historisches Museum Frankfurt would like to document this as extensively and diversely as possible. That's why the museum is calling on everyone to collect together - whether images, texts, audios, videos, photos, objects or stories.

At the moment, of course, collections can only be made in digital form. So for the moment, HMF is looking for photos of the special notes and signs posted everywhere, for example; or photos of the mouth guard you sewed yourself, or the shopping bag you used to buy groceries for your neighbor. Many things are possible - also photos of the current family life in times of #WeStayAtHome. For example, you can record what everyday school life looks like in your own home. Or what creative ways are found to pass the time - for example, by reinterpreting familiar game ideas.

Pictures describing everyday life in quarantine can be emailed to the museum, along with the accompanying story. Periodically, the HMF will publish the submissions, including via social channels. This means that sending in stories and visuals is also linked to consent for publication. The museum will decide at a later date which objects will eventually be included in the museum collection.

You can also tell your experiences and share pictures in the "Stadtlabor digital". On the page https://historisches-museum-frankfurt.de/stadtlabor digital there is already the category "corona". Self-produced audio, video, image and text contributions are uploaded to the Frankfurt map and shared with the community. The result is a growing, collaborative collection of Frankfurt knowledge that makes it possible to experience how people deal with the current situation.
