Rail strike: Urban public transport runs as planned in Frankfurt

S-Bahn and regional trains likely to be restricted - many good alternatives in Frankfurt

In the current wage dispute with Deutsche Bahn (DB), the German Train Drivers' Union has once again called on its members to take part in a nationwide strike. Passenger services are to go on strike from 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 7. The strike is scheduled to end on Friday, December 8 at 10 pm. Regional trains and suburban trains in the RMV area may also be affected by the work stoppages.

The subway trains, streetcars and bus lines in Frankfurt are not affected by the strike and will run as planned. They can often be used as an alternative in Frankfurt's tightly knit local transport network.

The subway lines U1, U2, U3, U6 and U8 will run with three-car trains until the end of service, and the last car will not be detached in the evening hours as usual. On bus route 61 to the airport, articulated buses will be used wherever possible, as they offer more space.

The municipal public transport company traffiQ and VGF recommend that passengers obtain up-to-date information shortly before setting off. This can be obtained via the radio stations, on the RMV service telephone at 069/24248024, which is available around the clock, via the RMVGo app, on the Internet at rmv-frankfurt.de and on social media.
