(ffm) The Theater Tunnel will be closed From Friday, August 10, 8 p.m., until Monday, August 13, 5 a.m.<//b>, in both directions of travel. In addition, the southbound lane of Berliner Strasse will be closed in the Kornmarkt area in the eastbound direction.
For the period of the full closure, a detour is recommended from Berliner Straße in the direction of Gutleutstraße (west) via Neue Mainzer Straße, Taunustor and Gallusanlage. The opposite direction (east) will be diverted from Wilhelm-Leuschner-Strasse via Hofstrasse, Neue Mainzer Strasse, Hochstrasse and Bleichstrasse. Background of the work is the construction progress of the building project Kornmarkt Arkaden. At the height of Kornmarkt, the southern carriageway of Berliner Straße is being given its final finish by OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH. In the course of the closure, road construction work will be carried out to connect the residential quarter to the Berliner Straße/Kornmarkt intersection, as well as marking work for the modified lane guidance on the tunnel ramp. In one of the next construction phases, traffic will then be rerouted onto the newly constructed road.
As with past closures, synergies will be used to reduce traffic impacts for road users. The Office of Street Engineering and Development (ASE) is also resurfacing a portion of the roadway in the east approach area of the Theater Tunnel as part of the Theater Tunnel closure.
