The new cathedral architect Julia Lienemeyer - An expert for listed buildings

(ffm) A woman is now responsible for construction work on the cathedral and the other dotation churches in Frankfurt for the first time: head of the building department Jan Schneider and Michael Simon, the head of the office for building and real estate, have introduced Julia Lienemeyer as the new cathedral architect. In this function she succeeds Robert Sommer, who will retire in autumn. Schneider was delighted to have won over an experienced specialist for this important position: "In Frankfurt, churches and architectural monuments play a very special role. I look forward to working with Dr. Lienemeyer and will certainly have her explain the progress of the restoration work on the cathedral to me more often."

51-year-old Julia Lienemeyer was born in Frankfurt and studied architecture in Berlin. She wrote her doctoral thesis on urban development and architecture in Czernowitz, now in Ukraine. She has been working for the City of Frankfurt for ten years and has been involved with important buildings such as the Alte Oper or the Bolongaropalast in Höchst. Since last year, she has already been in charge of the renovation work on the cathedral. In future, she will be responsible for all eight listed dotation churches in Frankfurt's city centre, which the city of Frankfurt is obliged to maintain.

"I am very much looking forward to the new task," says the architect. "For me, it is a recognition of my previous work for the City of Frankfurt in the area of listed buildings, which I would like to continue in the future with just as much commitment and motivation."[
