The Opernplatzfest turns 40!

The Opernplatzfest celebrates its 40th birthday this year and once again transforms Frankfurt's most beautiful square into a true gourmet paradise. In 2018, feasting, enjoying and celebrating will take place between 11am and 11pm every day from Wednesday 27 June to Friday 6 July. The origins for this popular city festival can be found in the reconstruction of the Alte Oper: After the residents of Opernplatz had to put up with noise and construction fences in front of their businesses during the years of construction work on the destroyed Alte Oper, the mayor at the time, Dr. Walter Wallmann, had the first Opernplatzfest, then called the Lucae-Brunnenfest, held in 1978 as a gesture of thanks. Since then, the Opernplatzfest has become one of the most beautiful, traditional and popular of Frankfurt's "new town festivals. An average of 300,000 visitors come here year after year to enjoy international specialities and live music.

At the 40th Opernplatzfest, versatility is once again on the agenda - both culinary and musical. The program of this year's Opera Square Festival includes lunchtime piano concerts, entitled "Piano around the world," conducted by Professor Christoph Spendel from noon to 2 p.m., as well as a colorful program of live music. <link https: www.frankfurt-tipp.de veranstaltungen s event opernplatzfest-2018.html _blank>You can find the exact program HERE in our calendar of events.

Whether piano concerts or live music, whether classic bratwurst or trendy street food, the festival is simply beautiful and sets the mood perfectly for the festivals that will still be celebrated in the city in the coming summer weeks. It gets especially atmospheric when the sun sets and the Alte Oper begins to glow. Simply beautiful!
