Track construction in Eschersheimer: The 2nd phase begins

(kus) Soon it will be "half-time" for the subway closure in Eschersheimer Landstraße. Starting Monday, July 17, the so-called A line, on which the U1, U2, U3 and U8 lines otherwise run at intervals of a few minutes, will be rehabilitated between Dornbusch and Hügelstraße. The route is scheduled to be disrupted until July 30.

During the second phase of construction, the subways will run on the tunnel route between Dornbusch and Südbahnhof without restrictions as line U1 with 4-car trains every 5 minutes; on weekends before 9 a.m. every 10 minutes. Coming from Heddernheim, the subway trains then run to Hügelstraße. In between, articulated buses run as rail replacement service (SEV).

This is how subway trains and replacement buses will operate from 17 July

The U1 subway line will run between Südbahnhof and Dornbusch and between Hügelstraße and Ginnheim from Monday, 17 July. The use of articulated buses is limited to the short section between Dornbusch and Hügelstraße. Out of town, it is possible to change from the SEV buses to the subway trains at Lindenbaum without barriers. From Hügelstraße, lines U2 (to Nieder-Eschbach) and U3 (to Oberursel-Hohemark) will run in addition to the U1.

The U9 will continue to provide the connection between Ginnheim and Bad Homburg-Gonzenheim. The U8 continues to be out of service. The U1 subway line operates on the city center section with four cars mostly at 5-minute intervals, on weekends before 9 a.m. at 10-minute intervals. The articulated buses of the rail replacement service run just as often. At busy times, there are even two articulated buses on standby to take passengers from the subway. North of the construction site, i.e. from Hügelstraße, the U1, U2 and U3 subway lines run continuously every quarter hour. The U9 subway line even runs every ten minutes most of the day Monday through Friday.

Although the replacement service has settled in quite well during the first half of July, occasional bottlenecks and waiting times at the stops of the rail replacement service can still be expected.

The municipal public transport company traffiQ and the Frankfurt Transport Authority (VGF) continue to recommend that passengers avoid the roadworks by bus and train as far as possible and allow extra time for otherwise familiar routes. They ask their passengers to use the S5 and S6 suburban trains or the other alternative lines as far as possible. The U9, Tram 16 and Bus 64 lines also offer more space with more carriages or additional journeys. Bus line 60 always runs to Eschersheim station.

The best connection can be found in the timetable information at <link http: www.traffiq.de _blank>

or on the RMV service telephone 069/24248024, which can be reached around the clock every day.

traffiQ and VGF recommend that you avoid the roadworks as far as possible

There are many ways to avoid the roadworks as far as possible by bus and train. They vary depending on the starting point and destination.

Some examples in the direction of Frankfurt city center:
From Bad Homburg, Oberursel and Weiskirchen, the most recommended route is to take the S-Bahn line S5.

For passengers from the northern districts of Frankfurt, traffiQ and VGF have specially reinforced the U9 subway line with more trips and more cars and extended it to Bad Homburg-Gonzenheim. It runs to Ginnheim.

From Ginnheim, you can continue your journey with tram line 16, which runs twice as often as usual between Ginnheim and Bockenheimer Warte (change to underground lines U4, U6 and U7), i.e. mostly every five minutes.

Also from Ginnheim, you can take bus line 64 to the "Miquel-/Adickesallee" station, where there is a connection to the U1 to Südbahnhof.

Line 64 also runs much more frequently on this section on all days, up to every 5 minutes with articulated buses during rush hour. Passengers who normally travel on line 64 will have to make some changes. Because of its "amplifier role" in the northern section, it will be split at Miquel-/Adickesallee, passengers who want to continue towards Westend and Hauptbahnhof will have to change buses here.

Also an alternative for the journey from the northern districts can be the bus lines 25 (change at Berkersheim station to the S6) and 27 (change at Frankfurter Berg to the S6 or in Preungesheim to the U5).

Bus line 60 from Rödelheim and Praunheim will run all trips beyond Heddernheim subway station at least to Eschersheim station. There you can change to the S-Bahn line S6. At Heddernheim station, it does not enter the turning loop, but uses the night bus stops in Dillenburger Straße.

For passengers from Nordwestzentrum, Niederursel and Nordweststadt, bus lines 72 and 73 can also be an alternative, as they have good connections to the U6 and U7 subway lines at Industriehof.

Restrictions for motor traffic

In order to be able to work in the construction areas located between the lanes, for example to deliver materials and remove old rails, the lanes directly adjacent to the construction site must be closed to traffic. However, passing the construction site is still possible.
