Film: Miranda (Miranda Hart) is frustrated. Ever since her secret love Gary (Tom Ellis) left for Hong Kong, she's been spending most of her time in her small apartment, only engaging in occasional conversation with her fruit friends. But her best friend Stevie Sutton (Sarah Hadland) doesn't want to see Miranda let herself go any longer. She talks her into it, and soon Miranda finally sheds the pajamas and plunges back into life. To forget Gary, she even thinks about a new love affair. Who could be better suited for this than Gary's successor in the bar, the attractive American Danny (Michael Landes), who actually seems to have taken a liking to the chaos queen. But luck doesn't hold out for Miranda for long. Not only does her college friend Tilly (Sally Phillips) take every opportunity to rub her nose in what a great life she leads, while Miranda only runs a joke shop. Her mother Penny (Patricia Hedge) also gets on her last nerve when she wants to move in with her daughter after another fight with Miranda's father. And to make the chaos perfect, suddenly Gary is back in front of Miranda and finally seems ready for a relationship...

The comedy series Miranda has comedian Miranda Hart perfectly written all over her striking body. Using set pieces from her semi-autobiographical radio comedy Miranda Hart`s Joke Shop and plenty of self-deprecation, Hart has quickly won favor with audiences not only in her home country. Her completely unsparing approach to classic slapstick and blithely buffoonery, however, also makes it nearly impossible not to take the 6-foot-5 woman to your heart. Season 2 of the series, which recently ended after 3 seasons and two specials, clearly follows the concept of the first season. Those expecting big surprises or striking advancements in characters and story might be disappointed. But if you just can't get enough of Miranda Hart's very own style, you will once again be able to have a deliciously good time with the new episodes.

There are many running gags from the first season that are picked up again here. For example, Miranda's mother still adds what I call a "what do you call it" to all the common terms, and Miranda never misses the opportunity to look directly into the camera or make comments to the audience. One could think that just these two really often used stylistic devices would slowly wear out. But Miranda's mother's odd remarks and direct interaction with the audience often make for the season's most amusing moments.

What really makes the new episodes worth watching, however, is the season-long plotline about Miranda and Gary trying to start a relationship, or at least have sex. Anyone who knows Miranda won't be surprised that everything that could possibly go wrong does go wrong in the process. Sure, it's often completely over the top, mostly unrestrainedly silly and not really deep. But the charming actors and the many successful gags ensure that at least for all fans of season 1 and for all lovers of weird Britcoms applies: Absolutely worth seeing!

Picture + Sound: Compared to the first season has changed here purely nothing. Again, the technical implementation is on a good level for a TV comedy series. The picture is clean, the colors powerful and the sharpness absolutely satisfactory. And also the stereo mixed sound, which transports the witty dialogues powerfully out of the speakers, is perfectly adequate for a sitcom. For this, then, there is also a very clear bottom line: good!

Extras: In the UK, viewers could press a red button after each episode of the second season or go online to watch an amusing interview there. These six red button interviews (approx. 42:49 min.) fortunately also made it onto the DVD. Because the conversation between Miranda Hart, her series mother and her real mother alone is just wonderful. Also, the first interview between Miranda and the entire cast is absolutely worth watching for fans!

Conclusion: Miranda does not offer any big surprises in the second season. The running gags remain largely the same and neither the story nor the characters really develop noticeably. Nevertheless, the comedy series with its very special humor and the wonderfully self-deprecating leading actress still works really well in the second attempt. The DVD presents the episodes of the second season in good picture and sound quality and bonus material in the form of entertaining interviews is also available this time. If you already liked the first season, you can't miss this double DVD. Recommendable
