Content: Olaf Schubert, the battle pullunder among German comedians, returns with his current live program on DVD. After the success of his first live DVD Ich bin bei Euch (I'm with you), the admonisher and reminder from Dresden offers in Olaf Schubert Live! - Meine Kämpfe not only his view on bitter issues such as the economic crisis or terrorism (September 11: terrorist attack or the first case of manned architectural criticism?). He does not shy away from unpleasant theses, as he takes his job as Federal Olaf and Central Schubert very seriously. But that's not all. Schubert sets out to impart his positive outlook on life to his viewers (true to his motto: keep your head up, your back out, your appendix out!) while also demonstrating his musical abilities time and again.

But Olaf Schubert also gives his viewers a glimpse into his life. He talks about his childhood, which he often spent playing in open spaces. He reveals that most of his parents are surgeons - all of them, in fact, except his mother, and admits that he has problems with adhesions: Only one of his legs is the same length! He reveals that he's actually just dreaming reality - namely, that he's lying there sleeping - and that he's also starting to notice that he's getting older and the humus is already calling to him, and that he's lost a major top hair.

Whether it's insights into his life or in his view of the things that move our world, Schubert usually makes the audience laugh especially with his very particular choice of words. There the ears become sound beams, cosmetic surgery becomes alteration fleshing or slips of the tongue become small oral spasms. With such a juggling with the German language an Olaf Schubert resists freely against the fact that our language is interspersed ever more by Anglizismen, above all English. Of course an Olaf Schubert says: Not with me, no way!

Whether his advice to counteract the aging of our society (funeral experiences would be an alternative, dying has to be fun again) or his song for all aliens, in which he introduces them to our earth, Olaf Schubert's humor is always very special, original, weird - and damn funny. Provided, of course, that you like the sweater filled with wisdom. If you have been able to laugh at Olaf Schubert so far, you should definitely not miss his new program.

Picture + Sound: The technical implementation is absolutely successful for a live comedy show. The picture is clean and pleasing with its bold colors and decent overall sharpness. The sound is admittedly very front mixed, but for Olaf Schubert's narrations and his here and there interspersed songs the stereo mix is perfectly sufficient. Good.

Extras: Besides the unabridged live program, the DVD has just under 60 minutes of extras to offer. Absolutely worth seeing are the five excerpts from the heute show, for which Schubert was on the road as a correspondent in the Republic to report, among other things, on the lack of trainees or on the subject of biogas. No less amusing are the four excerpts from the show Olaf TV - Von Schubert and the three contributions from Cindy aus Marzahn & the young savages, where Schubert together with Cindy aus Marzahn gives a very absurd version of Harry and Sally or Hansel and Gretel to the best. In addition, there is a music video and the somewhat strange short film Herr Stephan: King of Menschheit. For fans, a really good bonus package!

Conclusion: Also in his new live program Meine Kämpfe Olaf Schubert remains true to his unique style and fans of the Dresden comedian can look forward not only to over 100 minutes of new live material, but also to almost 60 minutes of amusing extras. The good technical realization of the program is just the icing on the comedy dessert. Therefore: absolutely recommendable for all Schubert fans and sweater lovers!
