Currently, award-winning screenwriter and director Christian Zübert (Dreiviertelmond) is shooting his latest film HIN UND WEG, a tragicomedy, in Frankfurt and the surrounding area. Today the press was invited to shoot a scene on the banks of the river Main, where the actors FLORIAN DAVID FITZ, JÜRGEN VOGEL, JULIA KOSCHITZ, MIRIAM STEIN, JOHANNES ALLMAYER and VICTORIA MAYER first faced the cameras of the photographers and then the questions of the journalists, before shooting a short sequence.
And that's what the film is about: Every year Hannes goes on a bike tour with his wife Kiki and their best friends. And every year, someone else from the group gets to decide where the trip goes. This time it's Hannes' turn ... and he chooses Belgium of all places. Enthusiasm is limited, but the anticipation of the trip together and the prospect of crazy fun and silliness quickly prevails.
On the way, the friends learn the real reason for the unusual destination: Hannes suffers from an incurable nerve disease and wants to go to Belgium to claim euthanasia - it is to be his last trip!
The group's initial reaction is one of shock and helplessness, but then a wildly unique tour begins as Hannes' decision first shows the friends how precious life really is. With a list of things left to experience and a sense of nothing left to lose, they celebrate life like never before.
The mood at the press event was very boisterous and joyful. The chemistry between the actors seems to be right and even if only a fraction of the good mood that could be observed on the set can also be felt in the film, the audience can look forward to a very amusing work despite its rather sad subject matter.
When talking to the Frankfurt journalists, the main focus was of course on the shoot in the Main metropolis. While it was the first time for Florian David Fitz to shoot in Frankfurt, Jürgen Vogel has already been in front of the camera here several times, among others for a Tatort. And Julia Koschitz is no stranger to the city either, as the Austrian-born actress graduated from Frankfurt's Elisabethen-Gymnasium. But it still wouldn't feel like coming home, according to the actress, because she simply hasn't lived in Frankfurt for too long. Koschitz had only positive words to say about her renewed collaboration with Florian David Fitz after her time on Doctor`s Diary. And while Fitz does not like to be called a heartthrob or even mother-in-law`s favorite, his film partner confirmed that there is definitely an excited attention on the part of female fans when they discover the actor.
All of the actors were taken with Frankfurt itself, even if they have not really seen much of the city. The tight shooting schedule simply doesn't allow for that. Nevertheless, they agreed that the fascinating skyline made for a truly unique and very atmospheric backdrop. But not only Frankfurt, also the other locations in the region like Wiesbaden or Idstein left a very positive impression on the team.
It will still take a little while until Hin und weg hits the cinemas. But what was learned about the film during the set visit and the good chemistry between the actors let us hope for an entertaining, funny as well as touching tragicomedy, which is not only characterized by beautiful pictures of the Frankfurt skyline and the other filming locations in Hesse, the Rheingau and Belgium. We'll know more in the fall of 2014.
