10,000 visitors at the Historical Museum's takeover weekend

(kus) Around 10,000 guests visited the Historical Museum on the takeover weekend of May 20 and 21 to examine the result after six years of redesign. On special tours of the Sculpture Gallery on Museum Square and the highlights Stauferhafen and Mainpanorama, they explored the paths and dimensions of the new museum quarter. Many regular visitors were surprised by the generosity that the new buildings give to the building ensemble. For first-time visitors, the impression of an architecture that blends with the old building fabric and shows off the location and theme of the new city museum predominated.

For museum director Jan Gerchow and his team, the lively visitor turnout was an important confirmation. The museum continues to be highly motivated in implementing the new presentations, which will open in the new exhibition building in October. "I am very pleased that we have achieved this milestone so well and have received much praise and recognition for the museum quarter. Now we are setting up the new exhibitions: the ‚Snow Globe' with eight new Frankfurt models, the permanent exhibition on urban history ‚Frankfurt Once?' and the new exhibition format ‚Frankfurt Now!', in which we engage with the present and perspectives of the city together with the people of Frankfurt."

The family track in the Sammlermuseum and the complementary educational museum programme were very well received. In the new exhibition house, there will be interactive offerings for multigenerational visitors in all of the museum's exhibitions. These include two "study rooms" in "Frankfurt Once?" with in-depth offers on the exhibition contents.

From Tuesday, May 23, the Historisches Museum Frankfurt will be open at the usual admission and opening times. Visitors will have access via the new entrance building on Museumsplatz.

Special tours of the Museum Quarter can be booked by contacting Visitor Services at 069/212-35154 and email <link>besucherservice.historisches-museum@stadt-frankfurt.de .
